Another week gone, another Smallville in the can. I'm going to do a different approach to the Smallville Review this time around. I'll throw out things I liked, and things I could've done without, then overall thoughts.
Things I Loved!
- Clark started his job at the Daily Planet, and Lois was trying to tell him about the "rules" of the job. I think that is pretty funny, because in the movies, Lois was always the one who thought she knew more, while Clark stayed silent and got the better stories.
- Davis Bloome debuted, which is going to turn out that he is Doomsday. They teased at the end of the episode that there's more to him than meets the eye. It'll be interesting to see where they go from here with the character.
- The moment when Clark pretty much gave Chloe his blessing on her engagement to Jimmy Olsen was a nice touch. It showed that Clark has a lot of love for his friends, and it allows Chloe to finally move on and out of any possible love stories with Clark as they teased so many times in the past.
- I've noticed in this episode that Lois is showing very subtle signs that she's taking an interest to Clark. I'm glad they're not rushing into the Lois & Clark love story, they need to take their time, and that's what they are doing.
Things I Could Have Done Without
- The whole "there's a random youngster with a meteor power causing chaos" bit has run it's course on the show. This episode was no exception! I'm sick of that crap. Though, it ended a bit different, I just hope they continue it or else it's just the same old crap.
- The first episode with Tess Mercer seemed good, but now she's already popped into that "female Lex Luthor" type. I haven't seen her do anything that Lex wouldn't have done already. She's very manipulative, wording to make evil sound good, etc... Lets see something fresh with the character, don't just make it like you pulled Lex's balls off and renamed him Tess.
Overall Thoughts
Pretty good episode. Just some minor things that bugged me, but for the most part it progressed Clark to Superman one step further, and it's starting to feel like this season is going to be one of the best ones yet.
