How was everybody’s Christmas? Mine was pretty good. Got some blank DVDs, new socks, $20, WWE Magazine & Photo Book, Slurpee w/ 2x Mr. Goodbar, SvR10 for Wii and Best of WWE Championship. I already had SvR10 for Wii and Best of WWE Title though. So tomorrow my mom and I are gonna take them back, and get DJ Hero for… PS3 instead. I just used my Dell card for SvR’10 for PS3 too, just now. Good Christmas.

In 2007 when I first bought my XBox 360, I would have told you I’d fear getting banned on XBox Live. It was fun, playing with a bunch of friends who have XBox and with me finally joining the phenomenon of online console gaming. Then 2008 rolled around, I liked it even more because Netflix came to XBox and I was on cloud nine! We come to 2009, I decide to hack my 360 to play burnt games, and I loved it. August ‘09 comes around along with a Red Ring of Death, it put a sour taste in my mouth until I fixed it that same day myself with a few pennies & thermal heatsink paste. I had a feeling around that time that a ban on Live would be coming for some reason.
Then in late October ‘09 I read that PS3 will get Netflix added to it in late December or early January. I never was high on PS3, but I bought one anyway in May 2008 for the Bluray primarily. When PS@home came out in December ‘08 I was happy, it felt like PS3 was finally turning around for me. Playing online on PSN is free, unlike XBox Live, which also had my attention. Now Netflix, with paid subscription, coming to a free online service like PSN? Well, with that said, I personally (from my gaming style) think that XBox Live is a piece of shit now. For what I do on my consoles, I have no reason to pay for Live anymore. I started preparing to move my primary system back to either the Wii or to the PS3. I’d turn my 360 on as soon as I’d wake up each morning, calling it my “Daily Ban Check”.
Sure enough, on Thursday November 5, 2009 I decided to turn my XBox on and saw the “BANNED CONSOLE” message pop up. Was I mad? Hell no. I unplugged my wireless adapter, threw it in my drawer, and sighed relief. One less bill a month, and no feeling of obligation that I HAD to play the damn thing because I was paying for it. Now I can game with no weight on my shoulder, my own pace, and actually enjoy games for once.
But that isn’t all. I started to realize the past few weeks I’ve grown hatred for XBox 360. The Wii and PS3 started to get more play time. 360 was ONLY used for taping SLAM n JAM CAW, and nothing else. As soon as I got the Live ban, I unhooked my 360 and stored it away, and I set my Wii up on the table at the foot of my bed to replace it. To me the 360 is a piece of crap faulty machine that is a money hungry device from Micro$oft. I may pop out the 360 some time down the road, but I might just sell it on eBay or tell my brother (who never had intentions of online play his whole life) that he can finally have a hacked system for free games, maybe a good Christmas present.
So in closing I will say this, it was a pretty fun two years of having XBox 360, but I can honestly say that for my gaming habits and personal preference for entertainment value, the PS3 and Wii fulfill my needs. Fuck the XBox 360, Fuck XBox Live, and Fuck Micro$oft. I’m fed up with that entire company as a whole now. 2010 will be interesting, I plan on getting away from M$ as much as possible. I will get my Macbook Pro from Lockerz, and be happy with reliable products. Macbook, Wii, PS3.
